Message on maintenance records than on low mileage. A lower mileage car could still have many of the factory parts on it which are nearing the end of their life, while a higher mileage car could have had many of these parts replaced recently. For example, my old 2+2 had 148k on it when I bought it, and it was fairly reliable up until about 180k or so, which is when it started killing injectors and developing cracked vac hoses. The only major things it needed in that span of ~3-4 years of daily driving were the clutch, radiator (previous mech. broke the barb off), PS pump, and a CAS.

My '94 slicktop, on the other hand, was purchased with 116k on it, and in the first 20k I've had it I've had to replace the alt, ps pump, DS (center carrier was shot), the front pinion bearings in the diff, and a few injectors. Additionally, I likely have either a bad CMC or CSC, one of the rear wheel bearings is whining a bit, and the suspension feels a bit sloppier than that of my old 2+2. Overall it's needed more upkeep than my higher mileage 2+2 did over the first couple years of ownership.
